On February 15, we will hold the service to commemorate the Buddha Shakyamuni’s passing into final nirvana. This is one of the three major Buddhist services, with the other two celebrating Shakyamuni’s birth and awakening.
The Feast of Nirvana service holds special significance for members of the Shinnyo-en community because of its association with the Nirvana Sutra, a compilation of the final teachings of the Buddha and one of the principal texts on which the Shinnyo Dharma is founded.
One key principle of the Nirvana Sutra is that everyone has buddha nature and the potential to bring out qualities of permanence-bliss-self-purity(常乐我净). Service will be broadcast on February 15 at 2pm & 7.30pm.
