Launch of the “Contribution of Religion to Peace” Book by Inter Religious Organisation
First published in 1949, the “Contribution of Religion to Peace” Book was thought to be lost. Fortunately, it was traced and found by Imam Habib Hassan in a bookshop in the United Kingdom in early 2014.
The book contains speeches from 65 years ago, on the day that the Inter-Religious Organisation (IRO) was founded in Singapore, by interfaith pioneers from Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and Jewish faiths on their commitment to inter-faith engagement and solidarity.
After Imam Habib Hassan arranged for it to be flown to Singapore, the reprint of the book on religious harmony will be distributed to religious, community and government organisations as IRO’s humble offering towards inter-faith harmony in Singapore.
Shinnyo-en Singapore was one of the donors who made this reprint possible in a collective effort to strengthen inter-faith bonds and harmony among people from different faiths in Singapore.
