Shinnyo-en Youths participated in the Celebrating our Festivals – Ramadan Series
On 17 June, Shinnyo-en youths were invited by the Southeast Community Development Council (Southeast CDC) to a half day event to participate in Southeast CDC’s “Celebrating our Festivals” series. Shinnyo-en youths together with Racial Harmony Youth Ambassadors, Southeast CDC volunteers and other Muslim youths helped packed porridge in preparation for Iftar, visited the seniors at the Moral Home for the Aged and ended with Iftar at Masjid Al-Taqwa.
One of Shinnyo-en youths who participated in the initiative, Ms Athena Choi said “It was an eye-opener for me as I have never been to a mosque. I especially enjoyed the sharing session and now have a better understanding about Ramadan and why my Muslim friends fast. The visit to the Moral Home for the Aged helped me better appreciate the challenges faced by the elderly.”
